Dreaded Error 12 Strikes
If this happens one more time, so help me...This is a bit of a tangent since it isn't a part of the main story, but since I documented it, I thought I'd add it for some giggles. I was absolutely heated when this happened. Basically, Elara needs to get married early so I start by finding her a boyfriend with the Simfinder app. This is usually how I find sims in the challenge. I decide whether they have good enough genetics to add to the current legacy genetics, and then get em hitched based on whether the sims find each other attractive. This time, I find Paul. Paul is cute, he's a redhead like Patricia, and seems like a nice young man.
For some reason, while Elara is inventing, she keeps getting shocked. I am not joking when I tell you she probably got singed like 5 times no matter how high her skill was. This started to make me extremely mad. I am pretty sure this was the harbinger of the end times for this game session. Next to her is Paul doing some sculpting.
While all this was happening, Caspian was about to become an adult and we threw a party for him. He kept his emo haircut into adulthood.
Back to the Generation Six! Back to the main page! Now here's the kicker, I decided to save after all of this because Elara got pregnant and I wanted to lock that in. Big suprise, when I try to save it takes forever and it gives me Error 12. I try the trick of going to town edit mode and saving there but no dice. I am scouring the steam forums and reddit trying to find a fix to make sure I can lock all this stuff in. BAM, the game crashes. I am texting my boyfriend like almost in tears, "I forgot to save then the save got bloated and then I lost like an hour of my sims saves."
About two years ago I was having some bluescreening issues with my PC. I had been putting off reinstalling windows for a while because I just didn't want to. It seemed like a long chore. Last year I finally decided to bite the bullet and do it. I didn't include the NRAAs mod Saver in with my previous installation files I keep in my second hard drive. Therefore, I didn't have saver installed and didn't get the reminders to save often and my save got bloated after too long of a session and it nuked my game. I say it's my fault but it is definitely EA/Maxis' fault for not porting Sims 3 to 64 bit in like 2009. All of these issues would be avoided if I could use more then 4gbs of RAM at any given time. Oh, and also the memory leak that saving causes. Here's a link to that interesting tidbit.
